Creating these pages was lots of fun and
hard work. Most of the version 1 of these pages images were our own,
either made recently with
digital cameras or from scans of old photographs from Rajić-Rako family
archives, but the project of this size has required us to reach to
other people from Imotski.
The authors are very grateful to the Imotski photographs and reporters:
Braco Ćosić, Joško Vukosav, Luka Kolovrat, Polo photo studio brothers,
and Zdravko
Olujić. They have given us many of their own photographs, that we have
used on these pages. Above all, they were always a good
company. Joško Vukosav was always there with an
interesting image or scan of an old photograph or map to email it over
the Atlantic. He is the Bazana consultant.
We welcome interesting contributions and would encourage
people to consider providing hard to find materials relevant to these
pages, like Ms Vlatka Šimunović who has contributed her father's,
Nikola Šimunović's, 1950 photos of the first scientific exploration of
the Red lake.
Few people can match the energy and the extent of contributions of
Prof.
Suzana Budimir, the founder of IMOart
- Forum Croaticum who has
provided a while range of quality materials, some of them coming from
the new monthly "Imotske Novine." Brajo Malić was
instrumental in providing
original old Modro Jezero
photographs of late
Rina Mirošević (scanned by Photo Polo), which are now property of
Kujundžić family. He and his sister have contributed many old
Imotski photographs and postcards from the
Malić family collection. Kiko Skako has also opened up his
archive of old sports, carnival, and historic photographs. There
are many old black and white
photographs, all from "Imotska Krajina" archives, courtesy of its
editor
Ante Aračić and his son. They are referenced as "IKA". Most
of the photographs where made by Braco
Ćosić. Few of the "Imotska Krajina" articles are reproduced on
these
pages.
Milan Glibota, well known publisher and
Imotski
history author and teacher Snježana
Tonković, curator of the Imotski museum provided historic Imotski and
Imotski county maps and Topana fortress and Imotski drawings.
Luka
Rajić and Joško Vukosav were instrumental in collecting and
transmitting the old materials. Luka Rajić, himself and through
his contacts is the final arbiter on historic Imotski
information. Braco Zen has contributed the old song "Niz
Tadića ulicu," Vlade Vicić has sent "Čuvaj se Jažića bure",
while Sveto Dunda provided the notes. WWII materials come
from Krunoslav Zujić. Old Carnival photos were provided by
Gordana Rako-Radić, Zdravko
Olujić, and fra Vjeko Vrčić, who also has given us many old
photographs.
There are many images contributed by Milan Grbavac (digital aerial
images) and few by Ante Rebić, courtesy of Joško Vukosav. Rako
Dinko
provided
a nice collection of Modro Jezero and Imotski photographs. Tomo
Matković, "Podi" has provided few Modro Jezero summertime images, nice
Bekija panorama and many useful suggestions.
Koramac has provided Red lake 2007 cliff jump photos.
Davor Todorić has provided many of his slide scans from his
collection. Marko Benzon contributed several nice old
photos.
Mate Rebić of www.vinjani.com has lend us former Vinjani churches
images.
Gordan
Brzica has provided few of the published Imotski County maps and the 3D
map and was consulted about Pazar and Djirada pages. Josip
Aračić, the
man who keeps
us honest and accurate, made the Imotski and
official Croatia links, map of Imotski, and has done lots of work
on the other krajina maps. His constant support and company has
proved invaluable.
The recent map od Imotski County has been contributed by Goran
Kukavica. His colleague, Zvonko Babić from Imotski Katastar has
contributed Imotski maps from 1835. D. Grabovac provided a
complete list of Proložac surnames.
Marijana Džaja, from Australia, painstakingly extracted
all the Imotski villages from the Imotski county maps. She has
also provided photos of Medov Dolac. Zoran Raos
provided
photos of his oil paintings. Ivan Bekavac Pivo has sent us his
oil paintings. Aljoša-Cici Rako have made available
many old Imotski Basketball Club photographs. Boženka
Rebić helped the project by making free photocopies of several "Imotska
Krajina" pages and old photos. Boris Ðuzel has sent a
photo of St Ivan chapel uncovering on Bazana.
Ulrich
Harsch has given permission to reproduce a part of the Peutinger
Fifth Map of Europe. Professor Darko
Žubrinić, author of extensive Croatian cultural pages, has made his
Hrvoje Glagolitic Missal available for
inclusion on the history pages. Dan Wheadon was invaluable
consultant for "The Passion of Christ" pages.
In the music section, we would like very much to thank Ivo Glibota Crni
for providing the songs of the Imotski Brass Orchestra and for finding
time for several conversations in his office. Dr. Vlade
Vicić generously provided a copy of his CD "Našoj Imoti" from which we
have chosen several of his most know songs. The Imotski
Carnival video clips were produced from tapes made by
"Photo Video Raos."
With a project so big we are very likely to
miss to acknowledge somebody, so we apologize for all such omissions.
Most of the sideshows are made with . The skin
used is a
hybrid of few JAlbum contributed skins. The first version of www.modrojezero.org
had
most of the slides made with MyAlbum.
The pages are full of Javascript code, mostly original contributions
from DynamicDrive.com.
The menus came from softcomplex
site. The magnifiers came from Richard Goode's and Rupert Brooks's
work. New map magnifier, that we have improved upon
came from Urs Dudli and Peter Gehrig.
More than half of the images were processed by GIMP, a free image
processing tool. The web pages were made alternating Netscape Composer
and VIM. There are few other very useful free or Open Source tools that
we have
found indispensable in our work like Panorama Tools, PTAssembler,
and especially .
We are sure that we have missed few others ...
It is also worth mentioning our web host Idologic for excellent support
and for being very
accommodating.
While all Imotski references start with "Imotska krajina"
book by Ante Ujević and many works by friar Vjeko Vrčić, shown on the
left image in the Saint Francis church Monastery Museum,
there are few other books that we have consulted, that one should find
very valuable
in researching Imotski and Imotski County: "Čuvari Baštine" edited by
friars Marko
Babić and Bruno Pezo, "Imotski Zbornik" published by Matica
Hrvatska , "Moja Imota" by Petar Gudelj, and "Imotski Moje Mladosti" by
Prof. Mladen Mostarčić, as well as a series of articles by Ante Čelan
Gaganić in "Imotska Krajina". We have found, in researching old
Imotski, the series of
photo
booklets by Dr. Veljko Vuković to be indispensable. This gem of a
collection complements these web pages;
or other way around, very well.
The authors are very grateful to their
families for support, lots of understanding, eternal patience, and
love. Their support was instrumental for creation of these pages.
